Greenfield – Jon P. Slinkard, age 69, died on Friday, June 13, 2008, at his home.  Born on November 17, 1938, in Linton, Indiana, he was the son of Vernon and Vera (St. John) Slinkard.  He was a retired Army / National Guard staff sergeant and worked as a self-employed painter.  Mr. Slinkard was a member of the Fortville American Legion and the Fortville V.F.W.  A great cook, Mr. Slinkard loved to hunt and fish.  Surviving him are his son, Steven Slinkard of Greenfield; daughter, Debra (Tom) Pomeroy of Greenfield; brother, Ted (Paula) Slinkard of Fortville; sisters, Nancy (Glen) Alldridge and Suzanne Keyes, both of Greenfield; the mother of his children, Dorothy (Willits) Slinkard of Greenfield; and grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Slinkard, Nathan Phillip Slinkard, Sydney Faith Slinkard, Breanna Grace Pomeroy, Landon Thomas Pomeroy, and Keiria Renee Pomeroy.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernon and Vera Slinkard.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Gravesite services with full military rites will be held at a later date at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.  Memorial contributions may be made to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.  Friends may sign the on-line guestbook at www.erleweinmortuary.com or email condolences to sympathy@erleweinmortuary.com.
