Greenfield – Dollie LaVaughn (Holden) Whitaker, age 93, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at home.  Born on May 10, 1914, in Greenfield, Indiana, she was the daughter of  Walter and Lucinda (Gappen) Holden.  She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1933. She married Woodrow Whitaker on October 14, 1933.  She worked for Greenfield Central High School as a cafeteria manager. Mrs. Whitaker loved to knit and crochet and she loved watching all kinds of sports. Dollie was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church.  Surviving are her children and grandchildren, Nita Tuttle, Teresa “Sissy Ann” Brooks, and Dave Tuttle, Sr., all of Greenfield and Jan Hyatt of Auburn, California; sister, Virginia Coffin, Greenfield; great-grandchildren, Davy Tuttle, Tricia Tuttle Langston, Phil Brooks, Stacie Brooks Sheffield, Lindsay Hyatt Barr, and Mark Hyatt: and six great great-grandchildren.  Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Woodrow; brothers, Howard Holden and Bud Holden; and sisters, Mildred Holden and Kate Holden.    Funeral services will be on May 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with viewing from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the service.   Pastor John Davis will be officiating.  Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Christian Church or the Hancock County Hospice.  Friends may sign the on-line guestbook at www.erleweinmortuary.com or email condolences to sympathy@erleweinmortuary.com.
