Norm was born in Shelbyville, Indiana to Mahlon and Pearl Smith.  He attended Shelbyville schools.  Norm married Gladys (Stephens) Smith on October 26, 1947 who preceded him in death on September 8, 1999.  Norm married Jan Rura on June 29, 2001 and they reside in Greenfield.  He has one son and four grandchildren who live in Shelbyville.  Norm has been a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville for over 50 years, where he served in many different church functions, including Music Director for over 15 years, Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.  Norm has had experience in the funeral business in his earlier years working in Shelbyville.  His past work history is in the field of transportation and warehousing, for which he attended Indiana, Purdue, and Butler Universities.  He and his wife, Jan, enjoy traveling, having taken many tours and cruises.
